New Years Resolution: What's on Your List?

Year 2013 is almost over. And it's that time of the year when people set aside their Christmas wish list and make another list -- New Year's Resolution.

These are some common items found on people's Resolution list:
5- Quit bad habits (smoking, etc.)
4- Manage debt.
3- Take a trip, or travel.
2- Save money.

And of course, the bestseller: No.1 - Lose weight (Get fit).

Mine will just be mainly about these things: Stay healthy, be thankful all the time, and take chances. Does that sound good?

My painted face greeting you all a
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I've been away from blogging for more than a month and this post is actually my last for this year. I thank the Lord God for all the blessings I received this year, as well as the trials and challenges I've had. I'm hoping for a busier me on 2014. Busier but happier. *winks* Cheers to more years of blogging, reading, editing, following and picture-taking sweeties! 2014, we are ready for you! <3

10/15 Earthquake Tragedy: Bohol's Greatest Nightmare

As much as I would want my blog to just have "good vibes" and happy posts, I could barely stand the thought of not writing anything about what happened yesterday, October 15th -- when a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the place where I grew up, the beautiful Bohol.

I am not in Bohol right now. Good thing, because I was spared from the earthquake incident. But I am not feeling any better because my family is there. Plus, my relatives and friends. And Bohol is more than home to me.

Here are some of the heartbreaking photos I've seen on Facebook & Instagram: (I don't own any of these)

These are some of the severely damaged churches in Bohol.
You can see here the "before" and "after" photos of the old churches.

You see, our province's pride is our culture and heritage. The Boholano people have done such a great job in preserving that -- the churches you can see above are centuries old. They were taken good care of, and stood there for so many years. Generations and generations of families came and went in there to pray and hear masses, but just yesterday, that pride was taken away by the earthquake. :(

The photos here were uploaded by netizens on Facebook, and shared by my FB friends. I do not own any of these. I just put them together to show you a picture of how the earthquake affected the lives of the Boholanos.

1st photo leftmost: Road cracks in Loboc
2nd photo leftmost: The Abatan bridge submerged into the water. This is the bridge from Cortes-Maribojoc.
3rd photo leftmost (bottom): Total wreckage of the Tubigon church arch, also showing damages to Tubigon parish church behind.
1st photo center: Moaong bridge collapsed. A bridge in Loon, Bohol. This is where you pass through from Calape going to Loon proper.
2nd photo center: Destroyed road at Getafe, Bohol
3rd photo center: Road cracks in Baclayon
1st photo rightmost: Holy Name University main campus
2nd photo rightmost: Chocolate hills viewing deck
3rd photo rightmost: Chocolate Hills :(

If you are reading this, I am asking you to please help us in praying for our dear province, Bohol, as well as its neighboring islands. As of writing, aftershocks are still experienced every now and then. Prayers are powerful. Say a little prayer for the victims of this calamity. Thank you. Take care everyone! <3

Rose Paul: From Bangkok to Bohol & Beyond

Sassy. Fabulous. Stylish. In. These are some of the words we use to generally describe the clothes we would want to purchase, and eventually wear. Moreover, with our advancing technology today, it is an undeniable fact that we seek for the comfort of home as much as possible. Shopping in the comfort of our own homes is now possible with online shops. And here's one online shop I have been wanting to feature.

If you're a Boholano, then I bet you have heard of the famous online shop Rose Paul Bangkok. Quite a unique name for an online shop, you say? The shop's name is a combination of two names, Rose and Paul - the lovely couple who owns the said shop.
I did an online interview with Miss Rose to find out more about her shop. Well, I would've wanted to meet her in person, but I'm here in US now, and she's been travelling to and from Thailand. So read on and learn more about Rose Paul Bangkok, or simply RPBkk.
FROM BANGKOK
It all started with Facebook. Miss Rose, the shop owner, is a university lecturer in Bangkok, Thailand. Every time she posts her OOTDs or "outfit of the day" (since according to her they do not have teacher's uniform), a lot of her FB friends would ask for her dresses and ended up giving them away. Until, one of her former students suggested an idea saying, "Why don't you turn it into a business?" It was when she realized, "Yeah, why not?" And so came the birth of RPBkk, October 1st, 2009.
The first collections featured on the shop was of Miss Rose's pre-loved clothes and new ones which were her personal choices. Later, they opened to more variety -- such as jumpsuits, maxis, long gowns, cocktails, prints and everything new in fashion -- to cater to everyone's needs. "The clothes we have now are not just what I prefer to wear but what others might want to wear," Miss Rose states.
When asked about their clothes and if they design some of them, Miss Rose answers, "90% of our clothes are RTWs made and bought in Bangkok. However, we also design for special occasions like debuts, weddings, beauty pageants (production number, playsuit, casual wear segments)."
Rose, Paul and their kids Huey and Harl (plus a baby girl on the way!).
They usually model the RPBkk clothes.

TO BOHOL

Rose, or Roseth MascariƱas Ranara, hails from Booy, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. And while their online clothing shop business was taking off, she, together with her husband Prince Paul Ranara, decided to build a customer lounge right in front of the MascariƱas residence. "We call it RPBkk lounge where the customers can claim their orders personally," she marks.
And even if they already have the RPBkk lounge, they basically are still doing online transactions. They just cater to offline clients by way of appointment basis.

RPBkk customer lounge at Booy Dist, Tagbilaran City.
And yes, it is Thai-inspired ;)
BEYOND BOHOL
I asked if they have a lot of customers outside Bohol and asked what places they are from. This was Miss Rose's response: "In fact, 90% of our clients are from outside Bohol. Locally we have clients from almost all parts of the Philippines. Internationally, the bulk of our clients are from Norway, Denmark, Spain, New Zealand, Iceland, Italy, Canada, Qatar, Dubai, Taiwan and Japan." Now, this makes RPBkk world-class! :)
One of their profile photos, which I find very creative.

However, like many other businesses, they too have teeny-tiny trials on their way to success. According to Miss Rose, every now and then, there are joy reservers and bogus buyers but she accepts these as part of this kind of business.
Of course, I also asked her about their secret/s to a successful business (which is no longer a secret now. hehe). And she gives me this list:
•  up-to-date stocks
• reasonable prices
• family owned and managed (her mom, dad and sister manages RPBkk Bohol)
• high quality photos
• lenient on delayed payments
• no bogus buyer album
• accumulated orders until one month or so (so that customers can save on money transfer charges and shipping fees)

Of course, I also purchased a RosePaul dress myself!
Worn last January this year (explains the boots, it's winter season).
So what are you waiting for? If there's a dress you've fallen in love with, just say "mine" and it's yours! Happy shopping! <3
Photos of RPBkk were grabbed with permission.

First Blog Anniversary

It's So Sweet Suzette's first year! Here's the very first BLOG POST I wrote last year. Phew! A lot has changed since then. I am super thankful for my readers and 143 followers (143 = I love you) - although I do not update my blog very often (*apologies*), you still visit my site! Thank you for the love and support. Huge thanks also goes to my giveaway sponsors. You made me and my readers happy by sharing your blessings. :)

I don't really intend to make this blog post long. I just wanna bring some good news - the winners of our Firmoo Classic Series Giveaway. *yey!* The said giveaway ended last September 5th. And although there were just a few participants, I still want to thank everyone who joined. We didn't reach the bonus number of 40 participants, which would've given us a third winner, so we only have 2 for now. For this giveaway, I didn't use the Rafflecopter (as I usually do). Using the participants' input on the comments, I used MS Excel to organize the names. And I gave each participant 3 entries (or 3 chances to win). Using Random.org, I was able to pick the winners out at random. And they are:

Congratulations

MAE ANGELI LEONOR and SAY YAP!

Please contact me within 48 hours so I can give you the instructions on how you can claim your free glasses. You can simply send me an email or send a message to the So Sweet Suzette fanpage. And this ends our August back-to-back giveaways. We'll have more soon! So please keep on checking. Thank you everyone for joining! Happy first year to us! <3

When September Ends

It's that time of the year again... Where people post status updates of "Wake me up when September ends" because we've just said hi to September! It's a wonderful month because first, it's my blog's 1st year anniversary on the 8th (yey!). And as much as I'd love to make that day special by bringing you guys the good news, I can't wait to announce the winners for our giveaway.

Our Ahaishopping giveaway closed last August 27th, same day I left for a short vacation trip. I was hoping I could pick the winners during the trip but I wasn't able to. Sorry for that. But anyways, I'm home now and will be revealing the lucky names. Unfortunately, as I've said last week (fanpage status update), we haven't reached 100 participants over the 3-week giveaway period. We only had 60 participants. So instead of $30 worth of free clothes, the winners will only receive $15 cash coupon redeemable at Ahaishopping.com . Still, a great prize! :)

So, here they are:

Congratulations
Carla Antognoni and Crysy CaƱete!

Please contact me within 48 hours so I can give you the instructions on how you can claim your cash coupons. You can simply send me an email or send a message to the So Sweet Suzette fanpage. Tomorrow, I will be announcing the Firmoo Classic Series giveaway. Thank you everyone for joining! Expect more giveaways in the future and keep on joining and supporting! <3

NOTD: Chamomile-ion to One

I wasn't able to write any blog posts last week. Sorry. But I am back today with an NOTD post. This time, with the title "Chamomile-ion to One". I used another color from my Sephora by O.P.I. Tinsel Town edition set (see my previous post here). And the color's name? It's again from the box itself.

Unlike the previous colors I showed you, the color this time is of a lighter shade - so light, you can barely notice there's a color on your nails! But, it gives a desirable effect when light shines on your nails. There's a gloss.

The color is so simple - not even fancy, or fierce.

The good thing about this nail color is that it goes with any color of clothes or shoes you are wearing. As for the occasion? It fits any occasion. The only downside is, the color can be easily erased (even after putting on 3 layers of this color). But if you just need a simple little shine for your very plain nails so it won't be boring, then this color is perfect.

You can see in the photo above, I'm wearing these arm candies. They go with the nail color.

The procedure is pretty much just the simple steps -- application of a base coat, then 3 layers of this nail color. Let the nails dry and you're good  to go! :)

Our giveaways are still on! You can join by clicking the hyperlink images on the right side bar. I'm going for a short vacay trip next week but will still keep you posted through our So Sweet Suzette fanpage. And will post photos about the trip soon! *excited* Sweet day! <3

Are you the Sweet July Winner?

July 22, 2013
Monday
2 in the afternoon

I know you've been wanting to know who our Sweet June Giveaway's lucky winner is. And as promised, the lucky lady's name is revealed in this blog post exactly a week after the giveaway ended. And I call her our Sweet July Winner, thus the title. But before that, let me take this opportunity to greet a very special friend a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You all know her. That is, if you took time to read the Sweet June Giveaway post. She is no other than my Koreana-slash-gwiyomi-slash-bangs-flight attendant friend: Risha!

Ang pinag-effortang photo collage. LOL

If not for her, there wouldn't be a Sweet June Giveaway. So it's all thanks to her and her online shop. Actually, today's not her birthday yet. It'll be on the 27th. But anyways, I want to be the first one to greet her through this blog post. So it's a double celebration -- winner announcement + our sponsor's birthday! Isn't that awesome?

And our lucky winner here will soon feel awesomely sexy when she wears our FAB DRESS from Cebu Koreana Shop. Our winner is:

Congratulations
SHERRY ANN GOLE CRUZ!

You are the deserving winner for our giveaway! Please contact me ASAP. The first winner I picked kinda forgot to leave a comment on the blog post, which is one of the mandatory mechanics. And she clicked "enter" without actually doing what she was told to do. So, I think the gods looked down on you, Sherry Ann. They granted your plea of owning that fab dress. As you have said on So Sweet Suzette fanpage's status update, "hoping the dress would be mine" and IT IS NOW YOURS! *winks*

So next time, ladies and gentlemen (because we now have male readers which makes me really happy), please do not forget to do everything the rafflecopter asks you. I'm super grateful for 2000+ entries and for the outpour of love and support. Thank you! There'll be more giveaways in the future. *fingers-crossed*

Please wish our birthday girl, Risha (twitter: @rishatan) a happy birthday! And congratulations to Sherry Ann!

Have a sweet day! <3

NOTD: If You've Got It, Haunt It

July 10, 2013
2 pm (US time)

Hello there sweeties! Thank you for your giveaway entries! We're 5 days away from the end of accepting entries but we've reached more than 1,500 already! (yay!) I have read all of your comments for the Sweet June giveaway, especially your answers to what you wanted to see more from my blog. And by this time, I really can't promise you anything but I will try my hardest to give you the "things" you've been wanting to see here in So Sweet Suzette. *winks*

I recently received a great blessing from the Almighty. Will share that story later, maybe on a separate post if I will find time. But for now, here's a quick post.

This is just a simple nail color. Not as complicated as my Zebra art last time. And since some readers have been saying that I should atleast show or state a step-by-step procedure for the NOTD posts, then here goes for today:
First, you clean your nails (of course). Second, apply a base coat. You can directly use this nail color, or an option can be of that dark nail colors - black or dark blue perhaps. Then apply 2 layers of THIS color. And then finish off with a colorless lacquer.

THIS nail color :)
Sephora by OPI (Tinsel Town)

You might find the blog title confusing. But the label for our NOTD, "If You've Got It, Haunt It," comes from the box itself.

Tinsel Town edition of Sephora Nail Colors. A gift I received from my Sissy.
THIS nail color is the one on the rightmost side.
So here's a photo of a DARK vs. LIGHT nail color. That's my hand on the left (the darker nail color). Beside it is my cousin's hand, with a light pink nail color.

Actually, she was just the one taking pictures of her nails because she loves how the nails matched with her strawberry ring! Which is just so cute! :) So I joined in. Haha! *Epal mode*
Mine && Merpy's

In a few days, our giveaway will end and I'm excited to know who our lucky lady is. Keep sending your entries! <3

NOTD: zzZEBRA Art

June 12, 2013
Wednesday

Happy 115th Philippine Independence Day! :)

It is a non-working holiday today and since it has already been sometime since I had a "Nail of the Day" post, I decided to show you my nails for today. It has a simple but fancy nail art on them, which is zebra stripes-inspired.

Photo taken by pretty cousin Cara Marie Yu
We especially took the photo with my Mossimo shoes behind the nails because I just believe the prints matched, don't they? The only difference is that my shoes has a black-white print, while my nails have black-metallic (grayish/bluish/greenish) colors on them. The nail polish I used was Sephora by O.P.I. - a gift from my Sissy last Christmas.

Here's the nail polish: Sephora by O.P.I. :)
I forgot just what specific color this is. Will update once I find  out. *winks*

Here's another shot with my nails (without filter):

You can clearly see here how the nail colors look like. It's kinda sophisticated and I love it ;)
Mission accomplished for today - a new post! :)
Hope I shared something fun, fancy and artsy to you sweeties! <3

Gone but Not For Too Long

June 9, 2013
Sunday

I am so back! *screams* :D
I am back to using the internet regularly and I am back to blogging. I really missed being in the cyberworld. :)
But then, we have to sacrifice a few things so we can focus on the "more important" things in life.

I was gone (from blogging) for more than a month, and it felt different. For many times, I had that "urge" to blog. But I tried my best to resist it because I know that when I blog, I do not just type in letters and words and form them into sentences, paragraphs and then to a blogpost. When I blog, I think, I write, I research, I read, I edit, I read again, and so on and so forth... It's a long process for me. It could be different for other bloggers but that way works for me. :)

I actually wanted to make this post as short as possible, not to bore you with nonsense chats. But before I end this, lemme share with you what I do when I'm bored -- just like last Saturday afternoon when we suddenly had a brownout! So it's great thanks to my special friend who gave me these gifts! *winks*

Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James :)
I actually got super intrigued with this book, Fifty Shades of Grey, when it first came out over a year ago. And I have been wanting to read, but I wanted to have my own copy (not just borrow from friends). So, finally, I now have the Trilogy in my hands! :) Well some people say, young people shouldn't read this. But I'm already 21 anyway. I guess it's already legit to read this one. Haha! :D Hopefully I can finish reading the three books before I say bye-bye Pinas again.

And because I'm back now, please watch out for more posts! :) Will definitely be blogging now. Plus, I'm cooking a giveaway too! ;)

The Promise You Can't Keep

05-02-13
2 in the morning
(Phils.)

I was away for four whole months. I was away from you. And the day I went home, you were one of those people who fetched me right at the airport. Then at midnight, you told me how happy you were to see me again. And you promised that in the duration of my short stay here, you will never make me cry or try to hurt me. Days passed and I was happy… we were happy. You try to squeeze your schedule just so you can see me every single day. And I do my best to see you without missing any of the important things I have to do daily. But today was supposed to be a special day. I would have wanted to see you the soonest I can… but things happened. And tears just went running down my cheeks for almost the whole day today. I was inside my room for hours while you were there with your friends, talking and eating and laughing and drinking your hearts out. I was just inside my room, on my bed, hugging my pillow… crying myself to sleep. And each time I open my eyes, I feel my tears running down again.
You failed to keep your promise. :’(

Spring-ngaling-ding-dong!

04/03/13

SPRING SEASON officially started here in the United States last March 20th. And for someone like me, who got used to a very hot weather in the Philippines, spring is just so perfect!

According to people here, spring time is the best season of the year - a bright sun plus cool breeze. What could be better? :)

Having this lovely season really made me happy. But, another thing to be happy and thankful for is the success of my latest giveaway! We had over a thousand entries and new followers as well. So I must say THANK YOU to each and everyone, especially to those who spent some minutes of their days tweeting and sharing the giveaway post!

So, here are the lucky winners of the Nyce Finds accessories:

CONGRATULATIONS!
KARLA SHANE ORINOCO
and
HELEN GATBONTON

As what I've said in the giveaway post, I will only give the winners 48 hours (2 days) to contact me thru my email. Failure to do so would mean another winner should be picked. Also, since there are 2 winners for this giveaway and 2 different sets of items as prizes, the first winner to contact me will be given the privilege to choose the set he/she wants.

So the winners get to choose between the LOVE necklace or the bracelet.
and
1 of these rings:

Congratulations to the winners! And for those who didn't win, fret not, for a spring-summer giveaway is on our way! Stay tuned and thank you for your support <3
